Happy New Year!

It’s going to be a busy and productive month! We’re working with the new City Manager, Peter Pirnejad and staff to lay down the plans for the coming year. Below are the meetings scheduled this month:

  • 1/10 Annual Reports of Committees to City Council: Each standing committee presented their accomplishments in 2021 and goals for 2022. By getting together in one virtual room we’re be able to align our work and support each other. This meeting also provides valuable input to the Council’s annual goal setting.

  • 1/19 Joint City Council/Planning Commission Special Meeting - Housing Element Update: All California towns are required to update the housing element of the General Plan. We need to complete ours by 1/23. Our housing element will lay out the strategy for achieving the new housing requirements for the greater Bay Area. Staff has recorded an informative presentation. We want to maintain the rural character of our community but we are required to add housing. This is our chance to guide our own future.

  • 1/20 City Council Meeting: Agenda

  • 1/25 City Council Special Meeting - Priority Setting Session: The Council will work with staff to set the priorities for the coming year. We will balance an ambitious list of projects with the reality of what can be achieved. The agenda will be posted next week. I encourage you to tell me your priorities so I can represent them at the meeting.

You can now get a weekly update on all city activities by subscribing to the Weekly City Manager report. There is also an archive of past reports. Reading them will give you an appreciation of all the work it takes to keep our community humming along.

And if you want a conversation with real people (something we’re all lacking) join Peter for Talk and Walk with the City Manager starting 1/28. A great way to learn more about our town, share your ideas, get a little exercise and enjoy our wonderful town paths. I’ll be there!

Let me know what you think is important in the coming year. I’m excited to get to work!
